Long weekend unlocked! (But hold on, there's a history lesson!)
Civic Holiday (or Heritage Day, Natal Day - you get the picture!) has roots way back in the 1800s. Back then, Upper Canada cities just needed a summer break!
Fast forward, and it became the first Monday in August to honor Lt. Governor John Graves Simcoe, the guy who built Fort York (aka Toronto's birthplace!).
Now, the name might change by province (BC Day, anyone?), but the spirit's the same - relax, celebrate your community, and maybe even learn something cool about local history!
So fire up the grill, hit the beach, or explore your city's past - Happy Civic Holiday (or whatever you call it)!
